VR Names Ben Martin Chief Operating Officer
Appointment Key to Company’s Growth Strategy

TALLAHASSEE, FL – January 12, 2016 – Leading elections technology provider VR Systems today announced that Ben Martin has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will lead the company’s operations as it expands its products and services into national markets.

“Ben brings a wealth of experience and talents to VR. His leadership and commitment has helped build and define VR’s culture of integrity and customer service,” said Mindy Perkins, CEO of VR Systems. “Today’s announcement is part of a long planned strategic initiative to transition our leadership and position us for continued growth while maintaining the corporate values that have resulted in our continued success.”

Martin brings more than three decades of leadership experience in technology management, logistics and manufacturing. He joined VR in 2007 as product manager for VR’s electronic pollbook, EViD®, which was one of the first in the nation. Under Martin’s direction, the EViD market increased by over 1000% and today more than 13,000 units have been deployed in 14 states.

As EViD product manager, Martin oversaw the product line expansion which includes the Compact ruggedized software/hardware solution, the EViD Slate tablet and the Direct Print interface. The product suite offers elections officials a wide range of trusted, cost saving options for voter check-in during elections.

Martin has over two decades of service to the Marine Corps in active duty and civilian capacities. He holds numerous certifications including PMI, Six Sigma and lean manufacturing. He has served as President for a variety of labor groups including the Federal Managers Association (FMA) and the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). In these roles he was called to testify at Congressional committees on behalf of Marines and civilians and served as lead negotiator for major labor agreements.

Martin joined VR after serving as Deputy Director of Marketing at Marine Corps Logistics Command in Albany, Georgia. He has served on the Board of Directors of VR and as an officer of the company since 2010. He and his wife Melinda reside in Thomasville, Georgia and are parents to three daughters.
