Durham, North Carolina Selects EViD Electronic Pollbook From VR Systems
VR Continues to Expand its North Carolina Footprint

TALLAHASSEE, FL – August 12, 2015 – One of the nation’s premier elections technology companies, VR Systems, Inc., today announced a contract to provide electronic pollbooks to the Board of Elections in Durham, North Carolina. VR’s epollbook, known as EViD®, is a cost effective solution utilizing advanced technology to simplify registration and check-in activities during elections.

Designed to work seamlessly with SEIMS, the North Carolina statewide voter registration system, EViD accommodates a broad range of election needs, including same day registration.

“We selected EViD based on the product’s proven capabilities in supporting elections throughout North Carolina,” said Michael Perry, Elections Director for Durham County. “The new pollbooks ensure that our office can continue to grow and modernize to deliver a superior voter experience for the citizens we serve.”

Under the contract announced today, Durham will purchase 175 EViD pollbook licenses that will be used beginning October 2015.

The EViD pollbook is a software solution specifically designed for the unique elections environment in North Carolina. It provides a wide range of capabilities, including:

  • The ability to assign multiple ballot styles within a single precinct
  • Cross county elections support for municipal elections
  • Enhanced “ease of use” and a more intuitive interface for pollworkers
  • Full synchronization of polling place activity
  • Full provisional voter handling capabilities
  • Significant reduction of the time and effort required to open a polling place and to close down at the end of the day
  • Full support from VR Systems for any training, implementation and election day assistance

“Over the past two decades VR has developed deep expertise in creating ways to address the complexity of rapidly changing elections environments,“ said Mindy Perkins, CEO. “We are pleased to partner with Durham by offering technology that will make election day and the activities preceding it simple and worry-free.”

The new contract builds on VR’s expansion efforts into new regions. The company serves jurisdictions in 14 states around the country.
